To the southwest of Amagasaki Stn. on the Hanshin Railway lies the Teramachi area, home to a number of temples. It is one of the city’s Urban Beauty Precincts, which are subject to official preservation for their historical significance. Teramachi has 11 temples, among which there are numerous Important Cultural Assets, conveying the atmosphere of an old castle town.
2Village of Chikamatsu
Kosai-ji Temple is home to a government-designated historic site: the grave of Chikamatsu Monzaemon (1653-1725), a master dramatist of ningyo-joruri puppet theater. The temple is the focal point of the Village of Chikamatsu, which has many wonderful attractions.
